Have you ever tried to follow posture exercises to make it correct? posture shirts Majority will say that they can bring improvement in their posture but how, no body knows. In modern days people are not living an active life as their elders have done. Most of the time we used to sit in relaxed position in our couches, cars and at the desks. It makes hard to use our muscles in the best possible way. Some parts of body have to tolerate extra stress including the neck and shoulder while the lower back area gets weaker day by day. posture shirt Poor posture has been recognized as a factor in health for many years resulting in the development of posture exercises to correct it. However, this approach may be misguided as the focus on specific muscles for improving posture could affect your body’s natural support reflexes. Your body has built-in postural reflexes to coordinate muscular activity for support and movement. If your posture has deteriorated it is likely these reflexes are not being allowed to work properly. Stress may be causing you to stiffen your neck and tighten your shoulders. Due to such problems the natural body mechanism gets disturbed and posture as well. Consistent misuse of muscles makes your movement faulty. It creates a complex situation for you. The more you move in a poor way, the better you get at moving this way until it feels right. Whilst I appreciate the popularity of exercises to improve posture, including core stability routines, I believe they result in unnecessary tension in the body. Should we have to work core muscles individually to get our body to stand tall? Is it the best natural way to stand? As a teacher of The Alexander Technique I have seen many people suffering from poor postural issues. Most of them were having such issues just because of following various techniques to correct it. In an attempt to stand straight you do nothing to improve posture but put extra pressure over the muscles and joint framework. You should not waste your time to take position you think is right rather you should lower the stress making your natural reflexes work improperly. So don’t think about posture rather concentrate over poise. Poise seems to be a lost skill at young age. When you have poise you use far less effort and your body will support itself with ease allowing you to move, breathe and function more freely. Poise can be observed in athletes and in show biz world related persons. Just think about the balanced personalities of Muhammad Ali or Fred Astaire and you will get example of having poise in body. I doubt if they used exercises to improve their posture! You can also regain poise but you have to push the stress out of your body and allow it to move and adjust according to the gravity force. When you feel no problem in walking with a spring then it means you are poised. If you can sit over a desk with no stress over your shoulders, neck and back then you are poised. Trying harder and harder can only take yourself away from natural poise rather than helping you to improve your posture. So don’t try - let whatever is beneath you push up and think of letting go to sit, stand and walk taller and you will be on your way to a return to poise.
